, Tunisian authorities said that all of the 1,200 passengers who were arriving from the French port city of Marseille would be placed under quarantine. This move came forth after the detection of eight COVID-19 positive cases on board the French ship.
“Coordination with relevant authorities is underway to mandatorily quarantine 1,200 passengers arriving from the Port of Marseille,” said Nissaf Ben Alaya, Director-General of the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases said .
A Tunisian government spokesperson said that they had undertaken by the port authorities of La Goulette, which included refusal to grant permission for passenger unloading till mandatory confinement options could be arranged.
