Ports : Formalize Vancouver lading partnership between port of Vancouver and Rotary
One more milestone has been achieved toward the Vancouver Landing Project at Terminal 1 and it will be formalized at the next virtual Port of Vancouver USA commission meeting, helded on Tuesday, July 14
The Port of Vancouver USA and the Vancouver Rotary Foundation have agreed to partner on the Vancouver Landing Project to develop a walkway between the Waterfront Renaissance Trail and the Landing, commemorating the Rotary’s 100th anniversary taking place in 2021
The Vancouver Rotary Foundation contributed $500,000 toward the project the largest gift ever awarded in the history of the rotary.
“We are really excited to partner with the port on this historic project,” said Bruce Paris, president of the Vancouver Rotary Foundation. “The site of the Vancouver Landing is very special to the Rotary. It was the original meeting site of the Rotary and we think this is a fitting way to honor the service of the many members of the Rotary over the past 100 years.”
The walkway, which will be called, “Rotary Way,” will consist of a commemorative marker, landscaping and interpretive displays that will honor both the history of the Rotary and Clark County.
“The Vancouver Landing Project at Terminal 1 will be a unique community gathering place,” said Julianna Marler, CEO, Port of Vancouver USA, “and we are grateful for our partnership with the Vancouver Rotary Foundation whose support is vital to the success of this project.”
As the gateway into both Vancouver and Washington State, Terminal 1 will provide a seamless connection along the Vancouver waterfront, and offer a unique experience for the community and visitors alike. The port’s goal with the project is to enhance economic development in our region, increase public access to the waterfront and complement other developments by the City of Vancouver and Columbia Waterfront LLC.
