CMA CGM’s Mathieu Girardin appointed new head of DFDS ferry division

Mathieu Girardin (above) has been named as the new head of DFDS’s ferry division and begins his new role in October.

Mr. Girardin currently is an SVP at CMA CGM, responsible for shortsea lines in Europe, and will succeed Peder Gellert Pedersen, who will retire after 28 years with DFDS.

“I am delighted to welcome Mathieu, who brings a great mix of operational and corporate capabilities to DFDS’s continued growth journey,” said CEO Torben Carlsen.

“And Peder Gellert Pedersen has been instrumental in developing DFDS into one of Europe’s leading ferry companies. It has been a great pleasure and privilege for me to work alongside him since 2009,” he added.

Mr. Girardin said: “I am excited to join DFDS. One of my key motivations is to further develop DFDS’s reliable, efficient ferry network and services to customers while transforming DFDS into a green ferry company.”

The DFDS division provides ferry, port terminal, and rail services across the North Sea, Mediterranean, Channel, and Baltic Sea, and last year reported revenues of Dkr12bn ($1.64bn).
