Cosco bets on Trieste by starting new trains with Budapest
In recent days, the Chinese shipping company Cosco has operated the first of a series of new container trains that will be operated to and from Budapest, Hungary.
Finally, Cosco’s interest in the port of Trieste is becoming strong and real” wrote the Chinese carrier announcing a short and intimate ceremony to celebrate this new series of rail transport to Central and Eastern Europe at the Trieste Marine Terminal. At the container terminal at Pier VII, the global carrier operates a sea line with the Far East with Ocean Alliance.
“Soon we will make four trains to Budapest and if they are confirmed as efficient as we imagine we should formally open the routing on Central Europe also from Trieste” refer to sources from Cosco. There are also new convoys dedicated to some important shippers in the pipeline; among these is Hisense, a group that in Slovenia also incorporates Gorenje and Asko.
A first container train for Cosco left Trieste on June 22nd and a second one is scheduled for June 27th on that occasion a small inaugural ceremony will be held in the presence of the local authorities and the European and Italian leaders of Cosco.
