“DNV” accredits the Maritime Training and Simulation Center as an international center in Suez Canal Authority
The international accredited registrar and classification society “DNV” has approved the Maritime Training and Simulation Center of the Suez Canal Authority in Ismailia as an internationally accredited center in the field of providing marine training services. Which took place during the month of June, thus joining the center to a limited number of accredited international centers that provide maritime training services globally.
On the other hand, Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the authority, confirmed that the center’s obtaining international accreditation comes in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to upgrade the capabilities of the center to keep pace with the latest global technological systems,
Noting that the international accreditation of the center is a new certificate of confidence in the center’s leadership, which is one of the mechanisms the basic principles on which the authority relies in training the human element and refining their expertise in the areas of guidance, towing, dredging, pollution control and other areas related to the safety of navigation in the canal and how to properly deal with emergency situations.
The president of the authority praised the efforts of all employees of the simulation center throughout the processing and preparation periods for obtaining international accreditation, as well as the practical application of the standard requirements to obtain this certificate.
In the same context, Mr. Torsten Schroeder, Director of Maritime Services and Skills at the international accredited registrar and classification society (DNV) and head of the inspection group, praised the center for what he saw during the inspection and audit work of conforming to the work method of the center to the international standard requirements in the training work, especially the training of the authority’s guides, to ensure the safety and safety of ships during Crossing the Suez Canal.
It is noteworthy that the center was established in 1996, and is considered one of the most important training centers in Africa and the Middle East, with its accumulated experience in the field of maritime training using simulation systems, and it has been developed over the successive years. The center currently includes two-ship navigation simulators, two locomotive simulators, a simulator system for combating pollution and oil spills, another dredger simulator identical to Hussein Tantawi and Mohab Mamish, the latest authority dredgers, and a simulation system For training on electronic navigational charts, which is the latest system to join the center.
The scope of the center’s work expands to include organizing specialized training programs for shipping line captains for foreign companies on safe navigation in the Suez Canal to achieve effective communication and coordination while crossing the waterway.
