The Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation and the United Nations Development Program launched the Joint Coordination Platform on South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
The platform activities were inaugurated by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, and Mr. Alessandro Fracasiti, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program, with the virtual participation of more than 60 representatives from governments and multilateral and bilateral development partners, including the World Food Program, the Islamic Development Bank, and the World Bank,. International Finance Corporation, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Climate Investment Funds Foundation, and African Development Bank.
The joint coordination cooperation platform aims to enhance discussions between the government, represented by the Ministry of International Cooperation, the United Nations Development Program, and multilateral and bilateral development partners, on benefiting from the leading Egyptian experience in the field of development cooperation, projects implemented with international partners, in various development sectors, and expertise
The accumulated over decades, in strengthening South-South and triangular cooperation, to transfer expertise and experience in a manner that enhances integration between developing countries, emerging economies, and countries of the African continent.
For her part, the Minister of International Cooperation stressed the importance of triangular cooperation and South-South cooperation in advancing development efforts in developing countries and emerging economies, and strengthening partnerships and integration among the countries of the African continent,
Explaining that Egypt has strong and extended relations with all international financial institutions and multilateral and bilateral development partners that are reflected in With a portfolio size exceeding $26 billion, the South-South and Triangular Cooperation tool could represent a strong opportunity to transfer expertise and experience and benefit from the Egyptian experience in all fields.
