Lieutenant-General, Engineer/ Kamel Al-Wazir, Egyptian Minister of Transport, visited West Port Said port of the SCZONE where he was received by Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din, President of the SCZONE, Major General Mohamed Braya, Vice President of the Authority for Ports Affairs, and Major General Adel El-Ghadban, Governor of Port Said and Captain Mohamed Ibrahim, assistant head of the Economic Authority, within the framework of the political leadership’s directives to comprehensively develop all Egyptian seaports to make Egypt a global center for trade and logistics.
The tour began with a visit to the Port Said Container .where Captain Tariq Shaheen gave a presentation in which he explained a brief about the company’s history since its establishment on July 31, 1984 as one of the important national companies that operates the West Port Said port container terminal.
As well as the capabilities of the company’s container terminal in terms of yards, equipment and manpower.
After the show ended, the Minister of Transport and the head of the SCZONE paid a field visit to West Port Said Port to inspect the company’s sites and various Hubs in the port.
On the other hand Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din stressed that the West Port Said port development plan includes the re-use of the unused areas on the berths, in addition to the importance of completing the upgrading of the “Abbas berth” with a length of 670 meters and a depth of 17 meters to become a multi-purpose terminal at a total cost of the berth development project It amounts to 1.4 billion pounds, primarily targeting two projects, the first is a terminal for receiving and exporting liquid bulk, on an area of 15657 square meters, for the handling of chemicals, with a storage capacity of 310 thousand tons annually
The second project is two warehouses and a dry bulk handling station at the port. With a capacity of 100,000 tons annually, to increase the reserve stock of imported wheat, and achieve a trading capacity from 1.5 tons to 2 million tons, with the first phase ending next November;
He also stressed the necessity of accelerating the pace of completing development work in all ports of the SCZONE due to the importance of these strategic ports to Egypt and to the global trade movement.

Two projects, the first is a terminal for receiving and exporting liquid bulk, which will be implemented by New Horizon Tank Terminals, and the second is carried out by the General Company for Silos and Storage, which consists of two warehouses and a dry bulk handling station in the port.
IT is Noteworthy that the SCZONE pays great attention to the development of its ports on the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, due to its strategic importance in the global trade movement, and the development processes in all ports enjoy acceleration rates of implementation of the specified timetables.
