“Kid Captain project between “Alaeddin” and “eBlue Economy
Details and names of the success partners will be published in this national project which in its first phase targets school children in Cairo, Giza and Alexandria.

Kid Captain is a national project sponsored by Alaeddin magazine in collaboration with a specialised maritime magazine, namely: Blue Economy. Editor-in-chief of Alaeddin magazine- published by Al-Ahram Foundation- Secretary of Fund of the Syndicate of Journalists, the talented journalist Hussein Al-Zanati, and chairman of the board of directors of “eBlue Economy” and chairman of the editorial board, Magdy Sadek agreed to launch the “Kid Captain” project which is the first of its kind.
Thus, “eBlue Economy” website decided to select Captain Mas’oud Medan, the supervisor and general coordinator of the project, Dr. Ahmed Swidan as volunteer in this project as technical consultant for this project, who introduce such project in the international Marlog conference and George Faheem, the technical and the substantive officer-in charge
Captain Mas’oud Medan Captain Mas’oud Medan is a graduate of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, has 35 years of experience in all types of commercial ships and worked as director of port state control for the Red Sea and Nuweiba ports, and finally a former general manager for marine inspection of ships in Suez and head of the Supreme Ministerial Committee to inspect passenger ships operating between Suez and Saudi Arabia
Dr. Ahmed Swidan, will contribute the project in the role of technical consultant. He graduated from the Military Technical College in June 2000, and served in the Egyptian Navy as Chief Engineer aboard Warships, after which he worked at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport as a Senior Lecturer since 2009 . From 2012 to 2018 Dr Swidan served as a lecturer and research fellow at the Australian Maritime College, University of Tasmania. Up to date, Dr Swidan is an adjunct Professor in the University of New South Wales in Australia.
He’s working with a team to develop the new Naval Architecture program, to provide cutting edge education for the Royal Australian Navy personal as per the the RAN White Paper published in 2014. Dr Swidan is also consultant at the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, Fellow and Chartered engineer of several international maritime organizations including IMarEST, RINA, and Engineers Australia. In October 2019,
Dr Ahmed was awarded the Walter Atkinson Award for the best written academic paper in Australia.
Captain Mas’oud Medan stated: The details and names of the success partners will be published in this national project which in its first phase targets school children in Cairo, Giza and Alexandria. He furthered to say that there are large Egyptian and international partnerships in support of this project which we consider a real beginning of interest in this vivid sector which represents the backbone of our national economy.
