Payara development will connect 41 wells in total
Saipem, received the authorization to proceed with the final phase of the Payara development project in Guyana from Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited, an ExxonMobil subsidiary
Italy based leading company in engineering, drilling, and construction, Saipem was hooked up by global oil major ‘ExxonMobil’ for subsea job and variation orders on ongoing offshore E&C contracts worth overall approximately U$ 880 million in November 2019.
The Italian company has been working for the last three years, starting with the award of the ground-breaking Liza phase 1 contract.
This authorization allows for the finalization of the detailed engineering and procurement activities and the full execution of the contract scope, said Saipem.
Earlier Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) of Subsea Flowlines, Umbilicals, and Risers (SURF) contracts for the first two phases of the Liza development in Guyana was awarded by EEPGL in 2017 of U$ 500 million and in 2018 worth U$ 700 million, respectively.

The Payara development will connect 41 wells in total, including production, water injection and gas injection wells.
Saipem’s flagship vessels Saipem FDS2 and Saipem Constellation will perform the offshore installation while a soon-to-be-completed construction yard in Guyana will take on the local fabrication of part of the subsea items.
The facility will feature a heavy load bearing jetty, the largest heavy lift crane in Guyana and specialized welding and testing equipment.
This facility will include approximately 130 km of flowlines, rigid risers, associated terminations and jumpers together with the installation of manifolds, flexible risers, dynamic and static umbilicals and flying leads. Testing and pre-commissioning of the subsea field will follow installation.
The Payara field is located in the Stabroek block offshore Guyana at a water depth of around 2,000 meters.
Payara located only 12 miles from the Liza phase 1 project.
ExxonMobil Guyana has made 18 discoveries since May 2015 and began production in December 2019 from the Liza Phase 1 development, , well ahead of the industry average for development time.
