Rabie discusses ways of joint cooperation with Dan Jørgensen the Danish Minister of Energy and Climate

Jørgensen: MAERSK is working to build 14 new ships running on methanol and establish the first green fuel plant to supply environmentally friendly ships in Egypt
Admiral Osama Rabie,Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, met with Dan Jannik Jørgensen, the Danish Minister of Energy and Climate, and Svend Olling, the Danish ambassador in Cairo, accompanied by a high-level delegation, to discuss ways of joint cooperation and discuss mechanisms to enhance the trend towards green transformation in the maritime field, at the Guidance Building in Ismailia Governorate.
The delegation included Mr. Thomas Christensen, Climate Ambassador to Denmark, and Mr. Hani El-Nadi, representative of AB Moller-Maersk Group of Companies in Egypt.
At the beginning of the meeting,Admiral Osama Rabie welcomed the Danish delegation to the Suez Canal Authority, stressing the authority’s keenness to open wider horizons for cooperation and to invest in the extended partnership relations to create more opportunities for success and exchange of experiences so that the Suez Canal remains an essential link for achieving common interests and strengthening relations between Egypt and Denmark.
Admiral Rabie expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Government of Denmark and its tireless efforts to promote the trend towards green transformation and the use of clean energy in the maritime field, which is in line with the Authority’s strategy to declare the Suez Canal “Green Canal” by 2030.
Chairman of the authority stressed that the Suez Canal attaches great importance to taking into account the environmental dimension in all its projects and future plans in line with the directions of the Egyptian state and Egypt’s hosting of the COP 27 climate summit,
Pointing out in this regard to the authority’s intention to grant incentives and discounts to environmentally friendly ships to encourage shipping lines to build ships. that operate on clean fuels and reduce carbon emissions, in addition to adopting new work mechanisms based on clean energy, such as the direction of the authority to convert guidance stations along the canal to work with solar energy, in addition to converting the authority’s fleet of cars and buses to work with natural gas.
On the other hand , Minister of Energy and Climate expressed Dan Jannik Jørgensen his appreciation for the vital role played by the Suez Canal in ensuring the stability and sustainability of global supply chains, describing the canal as the backbone of global trade.
The Danish Minister of Energy and Climate indicated that the Danish shipping line MAERSK is working to build 14 new ships running on methanol and establish the first green fuel plant to supply environmentally friendly ships in Egypt in a serious direction and a pioneering step to reduce carbon emissions,
Stressing that it has become necessary to follow up on environmental changes and constructive cooperation. To provide serious solutions to meet environmental challenges.
At the end of the meeting, Admiral Osama Rabie presented the shield of the new Suez Canal to Dan Jørgensen , the Danish Minister of Energy and Climate, and Svend Olling, the Danish ambassador in Cairo.
