Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, met today, Sunday, with Mr. Vasilius Krustalis,Senior Vice President of ABS, accompanied by Mr. Chris Greenwood, Director of Business Development at ABS in the Middle East and Africa, to discuss ways of joint cooperation, at the Guidance Building in Ismailia Governorate
The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation to benefit from the expertise of ABS in the fields of training and providing technical advice to develop the authority’s arsenals
At the outset of the meeting, Admiral Rabee emphesized that the Suez Canal had taken serious steps to promote the trend towards green transformation withen its ambitious strategy to declare the Suez Canal the “Green Canal” by 2030.
Chairman of SCA explained that the Suez Canal intends to provide incentives for environmentally friendly ships as part of its efforts in support of the calls of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to preserve the marine environment, which will be announced during the activities of the climate conference in Sharm El Sheikh ( Cop 27 ) in parallel with the procedures adopted by the authority to replace clean energy instead of traditional fuels,in operating marine units and the authority’s fleet of cars and buses, as well as converting pilot stations along the canal to work with solar and wind energy.
On the other hand , Mr. Vasilius Krustalis, Senior Vice President of the American Bureau of Shipping ABS, expressed his aspiration to enhance cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority, based on the current stage of the need to achieve integration between institutions in the maritime transport sector,
Praising the actions taken by the authority in the field of achieving environmental sustainability and developing the navigation course. for the channel.
At the conclusion of the visit, Mr. Vasilius Krustalis, Senior Vice President of (ABS), presented to Admiral Osama Rabie the greetings of the members of the American Bureau of Shipping , and presented him with a document of his election as a member of the American Bureau of Shipping in appreciation of his efforts in supporting the shipping industry and the stability of global supply chains.
