Rabih receives Ambassador Soha Gendy, Minister of Immigration and the second and third generation of Egyptians residing in Canada
The Ministry of State for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs organized a visit to the Suez Canal for a delegation comprising 54 second and third generation Egyptians residing in Canada. ِ
Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority,( SCA ) received today, Tuesday, Ambassador Suha Gendy, Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptians Affairs Abroad. This is at the Authority’s Maritime Simulation and Training Center in Ismailia Governorate.
The visit comes within the framework of the fruitful cooperation between the Suez Canal Authority and the Ministry of State for Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, and in light of the ministry’s plan to link the second and third generations of Egyptians abroad with their home country, Egypt, in line with Egypt’s vision to integrate its youth into sustainable development processes, and to see developments in development projects and the nature of conditions. Interior in Egypt and the challenges facing the country at the current stage.
Admiral Rabie emphasized that the Suez Canal is an integral part of the history, present and future of the country, which makes its continuous development a vital necessity to enhance its global position and maximize the benefit from its unique geographical location and the huge volume of goods passing through it by establishing industrial and logistical zones in its vicinity.
Stressing the navigation statistics for the calendar year 2022, which reveal unprecedented records throughout the history of the canal, as the canal achieved the highest annual transit rate with the crossing of 23,869 ships, as well as the highest annual net tonnage of 1.4 billion tons, and also recorded the highest annual revenue of 7.9 billion. dollar.
On the other hand the Minister of Immigration praised the presentation of admiral,chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, expressing her pride in what was reviewed, starting with reviewing the stages of digging the first canal, which was carried out by a quarter of the Egyptian people at the time, to digging the new canal, which was implemented in one year with the money of the Egyptian people and the efforts of the Egyptians, confirming the greatness of the Egyptian people.
