Russian Federal Fisheries Agency signed shipbuilding contracts for 64 fishing ships and 41 crab catchers
Out of projects under implementation, 6 fishing ships and 2 crab catchers are delivered to the customer
The capacity of shipyards for the construction of fishing vessels in the framework of Investment Quotas Programme’s Phase II was discussed at the meeting headed by Ilya Shestakov, Head of Rosrybolovstvo (Russian Federal Fisheries Agency), in Moscow. Representatives of shipyards summarized the results of their works and told about their readiness for Phase II. By today, Rosrybolovstvo has signed 129 contracts for securing investment quotas on newbuilds including 64 contracts for the construction of fishing ships, 41 contracts for the construction of crab catchers, and 24 contracts for the construction of fish processing facilities, says the press center of the Agency.
Out of projects under implementation, 6 fishing ships and 2 crab catchers have already been delivered to the customers, 33 ships are under construction including 20 launched ships.
The meeting featured representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, United Shipbuilding Corporation, and numerous companies of the Northern and Far East basins.
Ilya Shestakov asked the companies to provide information on their potential participation and plans for the construction of large and mid-size fishing ships in the Far East to forecast the loading of shipyards.
The Federal Agency for Fishery (Rosrybolovstvo) is a federal executive body responsible for:
Control (oversight) in fisheries and conservation of marine biological resources in Russia’s inland waters, excluding internal sea waters and the Caspian and Azov Seas until their status is determined, and government oversight of merchant shipping in terms of ensuring the safe navigation of fishing vessels in fishing areas;
government services and state property management in fishing, the protection, sustainable use, study, preservation, and reproduction of marine biological resources and their habitats, as well as fish farming (aquaculture), commercial fisheries, the production of fish and other products from marine biological resources, the navigational safety of fishing fleets and safety of search-and-rescue operations in fishing areas while fishing, as well as production activities on board fishing vessels and at seaport terminals designed for the comprehensive servicing of fishing vessels.
The Federal Agency for Fishery shall exercise its powers in accordance with the Russian legislation on the territory of Russia, the exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of Russia, as well as in those cases covered by Russia’s international treaties, on the territory of foreign countries and open areas of the world’s oceans.
