Suez Canal : Crossing of 86 ships with a total net tonnage of 5.1 million tons.( Video )

Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of Suez Canal Authority  ( SCA ) announced that the navigation movement in the canal recorded, today, Tuesday, numbers in terms of daily transit statistics, as 86 ships cross from both directions without waiting, with a total net tonnage of 5.1 million tons.

The number of ships transiting the canal from the north direction is 45 ships with a net tonnage of 3.1 million tons, while 41 ships cross from the south direction in the new navigational course of the canal with a total net tonnage of 2 million tons.

Chairman of SCA explained that regulating the navigation movement at these unprecedented rates is a new certificate of success for the cadres and human competencies that the authority possesses in the fields related to maritime navigation, and a product of good planning for projects to develop the navigational course of the canal, which enjoys the full support and periodic follow-up from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Republic,

Owing to the strategic importance of the channel and in order to preserve its active role in serving the global trade movement.

Chairman of SCA pointed out that the record numbers recorded by the navigation movement in the canal would not have been achieved without the new Suez Canal project,

 It had succeeded in increasing the capacity of the canal and raising its efficiency to receive the current and future generations of giant ships with huge payloads and large submersibles that global ship arsenals are heading towards building to benefit from of economies of scale.

Today’s navigation, from the north, topped the giant container ship HMM LE HAVRE, with a total tonnage of 236,000 tons, on its next voyage from Morocco and Egypt.
