Suez canal : Highest daily Traffic rate for Crossing ships
Crossing of 94 ships with a total net tonnage of 5 million tons.
Admiral Osama Rabie,Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority ( SCA ), announced that the navigation movement in the canal recorded, today, Monday, new and unprecedented records in terms of daily traffic statistics, achieving the highest daily traffic rate as 94 ships cross from both directions without waiting, with a total net tonnage of 5 million tons. .
The number of ships Crossing the canal from the north direction is 53 ships with a net tonnage of 3 million tons, while 41 ships cross from the south direction in the new navigational course of the canal with a total net tonnage of 2 million tons.
Rabie emphasized that the growth witnessed by the daily transit rates in the Suez Canal reflects the strategic position that the canal enjoys in the navigational community as the fastest, shortest and safest navigational route.
He added this resulted in an increase in the average daily transit of ships transiting the canal and raising the canal’s readiness to receive the current and future generations of giant ships with large submersibles.
Admiral Rabie stressed that the projects to develop the navigational course of the canal will remain the safety valve to maintain its leading position in the navigation community,
Stressing the acceleration of work to complete the implementation of the project to develop the southern sector of the canal according to the specified schedule, which will have a positive impact on increasing the navigational safety rates in this important sector increased by 28%, and the canal’s carrying capacity was increased by about 6 additional ships.
The Chairman of SCA explained that the Suez Canal seeks, in light of its elements, environmentally friendly policies and practices, and integrated development strategies, to enhance its position to remain the most compatible shipping lane with the environment, in preparation for declaring the Suez Canal the “Green Canal” by 2030.
Today’s navigation from the north topped the giant container ship EVER ACT, classified as the largest container ship in the world, with a total tonnage of 244 thousand tons, on its journey coming from the Netherlands and heading to Sri Lanka, while the container ship APL NEW YORK sailing under the flag of Singapore came at the head of the southern convoy with a tonnage. A total of 114 thousand tons on its next trip from Jordan and heading to Morocco.
Today, Monday, the canal’s navigation recorded the crossing of different types of giant ships, as 16 container ships and 22 bulk ships crossed, in addition to the crossing of 35 tankers, 8 ships of car carriers, and 13 ships of different types ranging from multi-purpose ships, general cargo ships and ships Tourist yachts, etc.
It is noteworthy that, on Sunday, 87 ships with a total tonnage of 5.5 million tons crossed the canal
