Suez Canal records the highest monthly revenue in its history of $704 million in July
ِAdmiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, announced that the navigation statistics in the canal during the month of July 2022 set new records, achieving the highest monthly transit rate in the history of the canal,
Amounting to 2,103 ships, the highest monthly net tonnage in the history of the canal was 125.1 million tons, which was reflected in the channel’s revenues increased to record the highest monthly revenue in its history, reaching $704 million.
The Chairman of the authority Canal explained that the navigation movement in the canal during the month of July 2022 witnessed the transit of 2103 ships from both directions compared to the crossing of 1670 ships during the month of July last year, a difference of 433 ships, an increase of 25.9%, and the total net tonnages amounted to 125.1 million tons compared to 105.8 million tons during the month. July last year, a difference of 19.3 million tons, an increase of 18.2%.
Admiral Rabie added that the Suez Canal revenues during July of the Gregorian year amounted to 704 million dollars, compared to 531.8 million dollars in July of last year, a difference of 172.2 million dollars, an increase of 32.4 percent.
The Chairman of the authority Canal pointed out what the navigational reports monitored during the month of July 2022 of a significant jump in the rates of transit of various types of ships compared to the same month last year, when the number of oil tankers increased by 60.2% to achieve the highest monthly revenue of oil tankers ever, amounting to 153 million dollars
The number of liquefied natural gas tankers increased by 31%, achieving the highest monthly revenue for liquefied natural gas tankers in the history of the canal, amounting to 52 million dollars, while bulk ships increased by 21%, achieving the highest monthly revenue for bulk ships in the history of the canal, amounting to 121 million dollars.
Container ships transiting the canal increased by 8.8%, achieving the second highest monthly revenue of $314 million. It is worth noting that the navigation statistics during the month of July were recorded on July 29, the highest daily revenue in the history of the canal and the second highest daily net tonnage in the history of the canal, as 85 ships crossed the Suez Canal on that day from both directions, with a total daily net tonnage of 5.6 million tons. , achieving the highest daily revenue in the channel’s history of $31.8 million.
