Another Russian freighter collided with fishing boat in Bosphorus

General cargo ship VOLZHSKIY 40 collided with a fishing vessel while exiting Bosphorus and entering the Black sea, early in the morning Sep 25 (probably around 0300 UTC), while en route from Tekirdag Turkey to Azov Russia. The ship’s hull was reported, breached, with ensuing water ingress.

The ship was towed or escorted back to Bosphorus and then Marmara sea and anchored at Ahirkapi anchorage, Istanbul. As of 1530 UTC Sep 25, VOLZHSKIY 40 remained at anchor. Interestingly, VOLZHSKIY 40 is managed by the same company which operates RUSICH 10 cargo ship, which roughly at the same time collided with a Turkish freighter in Bosphorus.

MarineTraffic reported  that the General Cargo VOLZHSKIY 40 is currently located at BSEA – Marmara Sea at position 40° 59′ 23.352″ N, 28° 57′ 49.248″ E as reported by MarineTraffic Terrestrial Automatic Identification System on 2021-09-26 10:28 UTC (now)

Added: The wind in this area at that time blows from Northeast direction at force 2 Beaufort.

The vessel is currently at port ISTANBUL ANCH, TR and her next destination is AZOV, RU

VOLZHSKIY 40 (IMO: 8850906) is a General Cargo that was built in 1991 (30 years ago) and is sailing under the flag of Russia.
Its carrying capacity is 4178 t DWT and her current draught is reported to be 2.8 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 139 meters and her width is 16.75 meters.
