SCA : Construction of 3 new locomotives and two new ferries at the naval arsenal in Port Said
As part of the periodic follow-up to the progress of work, Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, inspected a number of service facilities and work sites of the authority, accompanied by a group of board members and leaders of the authority.
The inspection tour included the Port Said Naval Dockyard, the Rebat Specialized Hospital, the Port Said Workers Resort, the restoration work of the dome building, and the transformation of the surrounding area into an international yacht marina.
Admiral Rabie was keen to learn about the latest developments in the shipyard’s activities in the fields of building and repairing ships by inspecting the construction works of the two new ferryboats, each with a load of 210 tons, at the arsenal dock yard,
In parallel with the construction of a third similar ferryboat at Port Tawfiq Dockyard in Suez, to serve the transit movement of vehicles and individuals at the Shatt axis in Suez Governorate.
The ferry is 56 meters long and 15 meters wide, and it is equipped with 2 SCANIA machines with a capacity of 400 horsepower, and 2 VOLVO auxiliary generators with a capacity of 60 kW each.
The Chairman of the Authority also learned about the efforts to develop control systems for the Rescue 2 crane, which is carried out in cooperation with ABB Company, where work is being carried out in two phases, including the modernization of the control systems for the main and auxiliary cranes.
Subsequently Admiral Rabei continued the metal block manufacturing work in the assembly department of the arsenal as part of the construction phases of the two new tugs from three tugs that are being built in the arsenal with a tensile strength of 75 tons with ASD propellers within the terms of the contract with the Chinese company Guangzhou, which includes the construction of 5 locomotives, two in the Chinese arsenal and three similar ones in the Port Said Shipyard.
Admiral Rabie confirmed that the authority has made great strides towards implementing its ambitious strategy to develop and modernize its marine fleet of auxiliary marine units according to the latest technology globally, to ensure upgrading the level of marine and navigational services provided to transiting ships.
Then Chairman of SCA inspected the shipbuilding workshop, starting from the forming shed, to inspect the CNC cutting machine after the work of developing it, raising its efficiency and increasing its capacity to keep pace with the newer uses, with the help of missions from ESAP.
The inspection tour extended to include the opening of a number of service facilities in Port Said Governorate, where Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of SCA and Major General Adel Ghadban, Governor of Port Said, opened the resort of the Authority’s workers in Port Said, which is located on a total area of 4,000 square meters, on the shore of the Mediterranean.
