Incidents : Cargo ship went NUC, blocked canal, damaged leisure boats, Danube

General cargo ship KORMORAN suffered engine failure while proceeding downstream in Danube river, Sulina Canal, en route from Reni Ukraine to Tripoli Lebanon, loaded with 5524 tons of wheat. The ship went out of control and ran onto a bank in the Tulcea area, Romania, contacting three berthed leisure catamarans. KORMORAN was refloated and towed to Sulina port. She resumed sailing later the same day and as of 1430 UTC Sep 15, was approaching the Black sea. Catamarans sustained damages, canal traffic was blocked for abound 2 hours.

Marine Traffic reported that The current position of KORMORAN is at the Black Sea (coordinates 45.18257 N / 29.52327 E) reported 8 hours ago by AIS. The vessel is en route to the port of Tripoli, Lebanon, sailing at a speed of 10.1 knots and expected to arrive there on Sep 20, 07:00.

The vessel KORMORAN (IMO: 9100061, MMSI 671274100) is a General Cargo Ship built in 1994 (27 years old) and currently sailing under the flag of Togolese Rep.
