Jeddah Islamic Port receives 1.1 million head of livestock to cover the needs of the Hajj season
Jeddah Islamic Port has received 1,172,168 million head of livestock since the beginning of June 2022 AD, in order to cover the needs of the Hajj season for the year 1443 AH and to meet the requirements of the local market for sacrifices.
In this context, the port harnessed all efforts to handle more than 500,000 head imported from Somalia, as well as more than 500,000 head from Sudan, in addition to other numbers of live livestock, including the handling of 105,000 head in a record period of time that did not exceed 24 hours. Which confirms good management, speed of handling, and operational efficiency.
The port took all necessary measures to receive ships loaded with livestock, by preparing berths and allocating 80 seasonal staff to work in unloading around the clock, in addition to providing support services in cooperation with the relevant authorities and animal quarry doctors in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture to conduct laboratory tests and ensure the safety of live livestock.
It is free of diseases, as well as provides the human resources necessary to work in the activity of receiving ships, numbering 300 seasonal staff, which reflects the size and position of the port and its pivotal role in supply chains.
Jeddah Islamic Port is considered a pivotal port on the international shipping lines, as 75% of the incoming maritime and transshipment trade passes through the Saudi ports. By 2.7 million transshipment containers.
