King Fahd Shipyard at King Abdulaziz Port receives the largest ship in its history
The Saudi Ports Authority “Mawani” announced today the reception of the King Fahd Ship Repair Shipyard at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam; The ship “MSC ALIZEE III”, which is the largest in size since its inception, in order to carry out the necessary repair and technical maintenance works.
This comes within the framework of the high operational capabilities enjoyed by King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, and the integrated modernization operations it is witnessing based on the initiatives launched by “Mawani” that link the Saudi port system to international best practices, enhance the level of its equipment and operating mechanisms, and raise its organizational efficiency and productivity.
Using modern technology as an extension of the Smart Ports initiative, and in line with the national strategy for transportation and logistics services, by establishing the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics center and a hub connecting three continents.
The ship “MSC ALIZEE III”, owned by “MSC” and affiliated to the shipping agent “SBMSL”, is 208.3 meters long, 30 meters wide, and has a draft depth of 7.4 meters. It underwent maintenance in two stages;
The first is on the dock dock with the aim of maintaining the holds, generators, winches and navigational devices.
The second phase witnesses the entry of the ship into the dock “Dammam 1” to change about 100 tons of iron sheets on its sides and completely paint the ship through Al-Balaghah Industrial Company and under the supervision and continuous follow-up of the port administration, which confirms Confidence of the owner companies and shipping agents in the ability of King Fahd Dock to carry out maintenance work efficiently and at a high level of competition.
It is noteworthy that the King Fahd Shipyard in King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, which was established in 1982; In November 2021, he received the huge ship “African Jacana”, which is 200 meters long and weighs 17,000 tons, and is undergoing repair and maintenance operations.
This reflects its efficiency in ship maintenance and its integrated readiness according to the latest international standards.
