Moran Towing Corporation has announced the acquisition of Bisso Towboat Co., Inc., marking a strategic investment aimed at supporting the continued growth of New Orleans and the Lower Mississippi River region.
Founded in 1860, Moran is a privately held company providing ship assist services across 17 ports on the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts. The company has been active in New Orleans since 2006 and also operates in LNG terminal support, as well as liquid and dry bulk transportation through its fleet of barges.
Bisso Towboat, established in New Orleans in 1890, continues to be headquartered in the city. Renowned for its well-maintained fleet of modern ASD tractor tugs, the company has built a reputation for reliable operations and strong customer relationships. Like Moran, Bisso remains privately owned and operated.
“Bisso has rightfully earned recognition as a top-quality operator that values its long-term customer relationships and treats its employees with respect,” said Ted Tregurtha, CEO and president of Moran Towing Corporation. “We are excited to welcome Bisso into the Moran family. This acquisition underscores our commitment to meeting the growing needs of New Orleans and the Lower Mississippi River for decades to come.”
Both companies share deep-rooted histories of family ownership and long-term partnerships with customers who value trust and reliability.
“When we first began discussions with Moran, we immediately recognized our shared values: putting employees first, ensuring safe and dependable service, and continuously investing in the future of the business,” added Scott Slatten, president of Bisso Towboat.
