Ports : Port NOLA to restart container operations 7 September
Container operations at the Port of New Orleans (NOLA) will restart on 7 September following the passing of Hurricane Ida.
In a storm update on 5 September, the port said container operations at Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal will resume on 7 September.
New Orleans Terminal operations will reopen with limited gate and terminal operations on 7 September.
Ports America operations will reopen with limited gate and terminal operations on 7 September.
Coastal Cargo, Ports America, and Gulf Stream Marine breakbulk operations are open. Empire will reopen on 7 September, the port wrote.
The Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC) has been reopened.
Rail Operations have resumed with modified hours of operation between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm to connect with Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (BNSF), Canadian National (CN), CSX Transportation (CSXT), Kansas City Southern (KCS), Norfolk Southern (NS) and Union Pacific (UP) rail services.
New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB) operations have also resumed with modified hours.
Port crews, terminal operators, and tenants continue to prepare facilities for the resumption of operations more broadly. Terminal operator schedules can be found on the Port NOLA storm update webpage.
“Port NOLA resumed limited cargo and vessel operations, beginning with breakbulk vessel cargo, 2 September 2021, just four days after Hurricane Ida made landfall in southeast Louisiana as a category 4 storm,” the port wrote.
