Rabie meets the Director General of Musée National de la Marine to discuss ways of joint cooperation
SCA Admiral Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority, met with Admiral Vincent Cambroden, Director-General of ( Musée National de la Marine) accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising the naval and military attachés at the French Embassy in Cairo, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Al-Dhahabi, consultant of the project of the International Museum of the Suez Canal, and to discuss of ways of joint cooperation.
During the meeting, Admiral Osama Rabie expressed his aspiration to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the Suez Canal Museum and Musée National de la Marine in light of the authority’s keenness to make the International Museum of the Suez Canal a mainstay for preserving the maritime heritage and narrating the history of the Canal, which has many important historical stations.
Admiral Rabie pointed out that the construction and civil works related to the restoration of the first headquarters of the International Company of the Suez Canal have been completed to turn it into an international museum, while work is underway to complete the processing of historical holdings and museum display works, and the distribution of exhibits in the various halls, in preparation for the opening of the museum during the coming period, God willing.
After that, the attendees made a field visit, which included the halls of the International Museum of the Suez Canal, and De Lesseps Rest, followed by inspecting the Tahya Misr tunnels in Ismailia and then taking a cruise in the new Suez Canal
On other hand, Admiral Vincent Cambroden, Director General of Musée National de la Marine expressed his happiness with this visit, which allowed him to follow the developments of the Suez Canal project and to sail the new Suez Canal for the first time, as well as to discuss the possibility of signing a protocol for joint cooperation between Musée National de la Marine and the International Museum of the Canal.
Suez and taking advantage of what the Egyptian-French rapprochement offers from the possibility of spreading the concepts of preserving maritime heritage globally and transferring it to new generations under the leadership of the two museums.
The Director-General of Musée National de la Marine also expressed his admiration for the integration achieved by the project of the International Museum of the Suez Canal and what it could represent in the future as a cultural, civilized, and developmental forum, praising the distinguished level of the museum’s restoration work, which matches international standards.
At the end of the meeting, Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the authority, presented the shield of the new Suez Canal to admiral Vincent Cambroden, Director-General of Musée National de la Marine who gave it in return as a souvenir.
