Rabie meets the Japanese ambassador to discuss ways of joint cooperation
ِAdmiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, met with Ambassador Oka Hiroshi, the Japanese ambassador in Cairo, to discuss ways of joint cooperation, in the presence of a number of authoritarian leaders, at the Al-Irshad building in Ismailia governorate.
It is the first official visit of the Japanese ambassador to the Suez Canal Authority after assuming his duties as Ambassador of the State of Japan in Cairo.
He was accompanied during the visit by a high-level delegation from the Japanese Embassy in Cairo and the JICA office in Egypt, including Mr. Miyamoto Sugaku, First Secretary and Head of the Economics Department of the Japanese Embassy. In Cairo, Mr. Kato Kane, Head of JICA Egypt Office, Mr. Iwai Utah representing JICA Egypt Office, and Ms. Heba El-Hussaini, Program Officer, JICA Egypt Office.
At the beginning of the meeting, Admiral Osama Rabie welcomed the Japanese ambassador to the Suez Canal Authority and expressed his pride in the cooperation and partnership relations extended between Egypt and Japan, stressing his keenness to open new horizons for cooperation so that the Suez Canal remains the main pillar of support for joint relations between the two countries.
The Chairman of the authority reviewed the recent developments in the work of the authority and explained that the Suez Canal has made great strides towards implementing a comprehensive strategy that aspires to achieve integrated development of this vital facility by 2023, which includes several axes, most notably the continuation of work on developing and maintaining the waterway, and modernizing the fleet of the unit, The Navy, along with maximizing the use of the authority’s companies and arsenals and implementing the digital transformation plan.
Rabie expressed his aspiration for joint coordination and benefiting from what this rapprochement affords in terms of exchanging experiences and achieving common interests, expressing his constant readiness to advance ways of cooperation and overcome obstacles before the joint working group is scheduled to start its work during the coming period.
On the other hand, Ambassador Oka Hiroshi, the Japanese ambassador, expressed his happiness at his presence in the Suez Canal Authority and stressed that cooperation with the Suez Canal extended for many years in several areas, pointing out this regard to the fruitful cooperation that brings together the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Canal Authority Suez, which is the cooperation planned to be activated during the coming period in the fields of training and technical studies.
At the end of the visit, Lieutenant-General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Authority, presented the shield of the new Suez Canal to Ambassador Oka Hiroshi, Ambassador of the State of Japan in Cairo.
