SCA participates in the Cop27 on its leading role in maintaining sustainable green supply chains
Admiral Osama Rabie, the Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority ( SCA ), announced the Suez Canal Authority’s participation in the activities of the United Nations Climate Change Conference “COP 27” by organizing a key panel discussion in the Green Zone; titled “The Leading Role of the Suez Canal in maintaining Sustainable Green Supply Chains” on Friday, 11th November, at 11:00 AM
The panel discussion will witness the participation of H.E. Admiral Ossama Rabiee, the Chairman and Managing Director of Suez Canal Authority (SCA), and a group of key stakeholders and decision-makers in the international maritime community, global maritime organizations and major shipping lines, including Mr. Guy Platten, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, Director of Marine Environment Division, International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr. Martin Bo Christiansen, Vice President, Head of Decarbonization, A.P. Moller-Maersk, and Mr. Georgios Plevrakis, Vice President of Global Sustainability, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The panel discussion will be moderated by Mr. Khaled Abu Bakr, the international lawyer and the legal consultant of the Suez Canal Authority.
The discussion will tackle a number of key topics, most notably on the environmental challenges facing the maritime transport industry, besides addressing the leading role of the Suez Canal and the promising opportunities it presents to support supply chains and the global trade in an effective and sustainable manner, which is fully aligned with the initiatives adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the measures to be taken in the future to achieve sustainable development and tackle the risks of climate change.
The panel discussion will shed the light on different visions how to benefit from the development of shipbuilding technology in building new generations of ships that comply with the right environmental standards.
The Suez Canal event aims to strengthen the cooperation with all concerned parties in the maritime transport industry, exchange visions and points of view on how to confront environmental challenges, aiming to set a framework for ensuring a sustainable future for the maritime transport industry.
