Seagems, the Brazil-based offshore operator formerly known as Sapura, has renewed and significantly expanded its lifecycle agreement with Wärtsilä to cover its entire fleet of offshore support vessels. The enhanced partnership aims to increase operational reliability, improve efficiency, and reduce the environmental footprint of Seagems’ operations.
This renewal marks a deepening of the strategic collaboration between the two companies and highlights Wärtsilä’s role as a trusted long-term partner in the global maritime sector. It also mirrors a broader industry trend toward outcome-based service models, digitalization, and decarbonization.
According to Wärtsilä, the updated agreement embodies the maritime industry’s ongoing transformation, where operators increasingly rely on predictive technologies, digital monitoring, and integrated service solutions to optimize vessel performance while cutting operational costs.
“Over the years, Wärtsilä has consistently provided high-quality and value-driven services to our offshore support vessels,” said Ricardo Bicudo, Chief Operating Officer at Seagems. “Renewing and expanding this agreement aligns with our long-term strategy to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of our fleet.”
Under the expanded terms, Seagems will benefit from upgraded power and control management systems, Wärtsilä’s advanced Data Collection Unit with cloud-based monitoring services, and real-time remote diagnostics. These tools will allow Seagems to maintain continuous visibility into vessel performance and adopt proactive maintenance strategies.
One key feature of the partnership is Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight — a predictive maintenance solution that uses live vessel data to identify potential issues before they escalate, thereby minimizing downtime and unexpected repairs. The agreement also includes tailored field services for propulsion and engine systems, ensuring seamless, safe, and sustainable operations across Seagems’ fleet.
“This renewed contract reinforces our long-standing partnership with Seagems and demonstrates our mutual commitment to operational excellence and sustainable progress,” said Henrik Wilhelms, Director of Agreement Sales at Wärtsilä Marine. “Our shared goal is to maximize operational efficiency, reduce unplanned downtime, and provide greater predictability — all while advancing toward a decarbonized maritime future.”
Seagems operates a fleet of offshore support vessels designed for platform supply, subsea operations, and other offshore services. With robust engineering and state-of-the-art systems, these vessels are built to deliver high performance and safety even in the most demanding offshore environments.
The expanded lifecycle agreement between Seagems and Wärtsilä represents a forward-looking step in the evolution of collaborative maritime partnerships, combining innovation, sustainability, and digital intelligence to shape the future of offshore operations.
