Ill-fated Thai bulk carrier CHAYANEE NAREE was court ruled to be put under arrest, together with her crew, by Federal High Court in Lagos, Nigeria, on Oct 28, an order came into force on Oct 29. A case was filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). It’s all about 32.9 kilos of cocaine found in the cargo hold of the ship on Oct 15 after a wee-long search.

The ship and the crew are arrested for a period of 14 days, pending the results of the investigation. Meaning of incident and arrest is loud and clear – ship and crew are seized, now it’s the question of “negotiations”.
