Two largest Container Ships in the World launched from a Port in Taichung, China
The world’s largest container ship, the first of its kind made by China, undocked at the shipyard of Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in Taixing City of east China’s Jiangsu Province on October 29.
Each with a capacity of 24,346 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), the two container vessels mark a new record set by the city in the world’s top ultra-large container ship construction field.
The two ships will be delivered to the shipowner in February next year after completing follow-up outfitting and sea trials.
So far, the Yang Zijiang Shipbuilding Corporation of China has completed the construction of 6 ships of this type. The two ships will be delivered to the contracting authority for their purchase in February of next year, after the completion of follow-up tests and the trial cruise. The other four ships are also expected to be delivered in 2023.
Data issued by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also showed that the Chinese shipbuilding industry has become at the forefront in terms of global market share, which includes container ships that can carry more than 10,000 TEUs, and occupies 51.7% of the global market share.
