Elvia Bustavino obtained the Naval Award for the Americas 2022

The Secretary General of the Panama Maritime Authority, Elvia Bustavino, obtained the Maritime Award of the Americas 2022, in the category of Outstanding Woman in the Port and Maritime Sector, organized by the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP), in collaboration with the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) of the Organization of American States (OAS).

“I feel honored and moved to receive the Maritime Award of the Americas 2022 and for promoting the participation and incorporation of women in the sector, as well as the competitiveness and development of ports in Panama,” said Bustavino, who congratulated the 25 other participating women recognizing their work in favor of a more sustainable industry.

According to the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the OAS, in Latin America and the Caribbean, around 95% of exports are moved through ports, thus recognizing the important role of the maritime-port sector to promote competitiveness and contribute to the integral development of the hemisphere.
