Fire erupted on board of tanker in Black sea

Fire erupted on board of tanker ALMUNTAZAH in the Black sea some 8 nm east of Taman, Russia. Reportedly fire broke out in the engine room, of 7 crew several were evacuated, but as reportedly, later returned to the ship. Understood ALMUNTAZAH is either a bunker tanker or lighter to top off large tankers at Kerch Strait Anchorage in the Black sea.

A tanker is having some 700 tons of heavy fuel in cargo tanks, but fire is restricted to the engine room only. 3 tugs and SAR ship SPASATEL DEMIDOV responded, fire was said to be under control in the afternoon (Moscow time), but as of 1340 UTC (1640 Moscow time) tugs and SAR ship were still in the area, ALMUNTAZAH AIS missing during the last 17 hours.
