Suezmax crude oil tanker disabled by fire in Gibraltar Strait

Suezmax crude oil tanker ADVANTAGE SUMMER suffered a fire in an engine room on the evening of Jul 17 in Gibraltar Strait, while en route from Algeciras to Huelva, Spain.

The tanker was disabled and had to be taken on tow by SAR tug LUZ DE MAR, she arrived back at Algeciras on the morning of Jul 18. Reportedly crew managed to extinguish a fire by its own means, but the extent of damages was unknown. Tanker cargo status is unknown.
