Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. (ESG), headquartered in Panama City, Florida, has signed a new agreement with HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding Division to support the limited production of outfitted structural units for the U.S. Navy’s Flight III Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) guided missile destroyers.
This collaboration builds on the success of a recent pilot program in which ESG produced a select number of DDG units at its Nelson Street shipyard. The expanded partnership not only advances construction of the Navy’s surface combatant fleet but also contributes to strengthening the domestic industrial base.
“With nearly five decades of experience delivering some of the most reliable and high-performing steel and aluminum vessels, we are proud to partner with HII in supporting production of the Navy’s destroyer fleet,” said Joey D’Isernia, CEO of ESG. “This collaboration enhances our national shipbuilding capability, expands industrial capacity, and strengthens America’s competitive advantage.”
Through this agreement, ESG will leverage its proven expertise and resources to ensure timely delivery of vessels critical to maintaining the Navy’s global readiness. The partnership also comes at a time of rising demand for advanced naval ships, providing a crucial boost to America’s shipbuilding capacity.
To support these efforts, ESG is making significant infrastructure investments. The company is on track to complete a major upgrade at its Nelson Street government shipbuilding facility this summer. Once finalized, the expansion will substantially increase ESG’s ability to build and deliver multiple vessels, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to the nation’s naval strength.
