Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions) has reinforced its commitment to environmental and social responsibility with the release of its FY 2024 Sustainability Report, showcasing measurable progress toward its climate goals. Most notably, the company has slashed CO₂ emissions from its global production by an impressive 63% compared to 2018 levels—surpassing its own 2030 target ahead of schedule.

Three-Pillar Strategy Anchors Corporate Sustainability

Central to Everllence’s updated approach is a comprehensive sustainability strategy built around three pillars:

  • “Decarbonization is our business” highlights Everllence’s suite of solutions aimed at helping customers cut emissions across carbon-intensive industries such as energy, maritime, and manufacturing.

  • “Nature” emphasizes responsible use of natural resources, emission reductions across facilities, and active efforts to preserve biodiversity.

  • “People and Society” focuses on workplace quality, diversity, and broader social engagement.

This strategic overhaul is rooted in a double materiality assessment, which considers both internal operations and external stakeholder expectations, further bolstering transparency and accountability in reporting.

A Green Business Model Taking Shape

Everllence’s decarbonization technologies are steadily gaining market traction. By 2030, the company aims for half of its revenue to stem from green technologies. In 2024, 15% of incoming orders were already linked to sustainable solutions. A notable achievement was the successful deployment of a large-scale heat pump in Esbjerg, Denmark, which replaced a coal-fired power plant. The system now delivers climate-neutral district heating to 25,000 homes, cutting 120,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.

“We’re embedding sustainability into the heart of our business model,” said CEO Dr. Uwe Lauber. “Our commitment to decarbonizing the global economy is not only an environmental obligation but a key engine for industrial innovation and competitiveness in Germany.”

Progress on Emissions, Despite Operational Growth

Everllence has already surpassed its goal of cutting Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50% by 2030. From a 2018 baseline, the company achieved a 63% reduction by the end of 2024. Impressively, this was accomplished despite steady energy usage and production hours, thanks to a combination of energy efficiency upgrades, adoption of carbon-neutral power sources, and expanded in-house solar generation. The result: a 13% year-over-year improvement in the company’s overall greenhouse gas footprint, eliminating more than 6,100 tons of CO₂ emissions in 2024 alone.

Customer-Focused Climate Impact and Scope 4 Tracking

Dr. Johanna Rauchenberger, Vice President of Quality, HSE, Sustainability & Product Safety, underscored the outsized climate impact of Everllence’s products once deployed in the field. “The real game-changer is how our technology helps customers decarbonize. A single LNG-powered container vessel can emit up to 30% less CO₂ than conventional ships. With fuels like ammonia, emissions drop to zero.”

She added that Everllence has started tracking these downstream benefits, known as Scope 4 emissions, and plans to include them in future sustainability disclosures. “We’ve also made meaningful progress in minimizing the environmental footprint of manufacturing these solutions,” Rauchenberger noted.

Facing Forward: Staying on Track Amid Growth Pressures

Despite exceeding key benchmarks, the path ahead presents challenges. “Maintaining our momentum toward 2030 will require resilience, particularly as we navigate supply limitations in alternative fuels and manage our own growth,” said Dietmar Pinkernell, Head of Sustainability & Product Safety. “But we are well-positioned and fully committed to staying the course.”

Championing Employee Well-Being and Inclusion

Beyond climate action, Everllence is also investing in its people. One standout initiative is the award-winning “Frauengesundheit er#leben” (translated as “Experience Women’s Health”), which won the 2024 Human Resources Excellence Award. The program supports the health and well-being of female employees through a combination of targeted workshops, expert talks, and personalized assessments focused on gender-specific health concerns.

Conclusion

As Everllence redefines itself in a decarbonizing world, the company’s 2024 Sustainability Report illustrates how bold ambition, backed by innovation and accountability, can drive meaningful transformation—not just for business, but for the planet and its people
